Tropical Protein Post-Workout Smoothie

Hey y'all!

I wanted to share a really delicious post-workout smoothie recipe that I made Sunday night. I LOVE working out! I have always been very athletic and active ever since I was a child. From dance, gymnastics, track, to competitive cheerleading in college. I still try my best work out at least 3 times a week. It is hard but when I don't I really do feel like crap. I normally go to the gym in our complex but lately I've been really liking just working out at home in our living room. I love XHIT Daily channel on youtube, the Workout 7 app and I really love P90x. Sunday night I did the Workout 7 app seqence twice and the P90x ab workout. Afterwards I made this yummy, very filling smoothie.
Here is the smoothie recipe and a few pics too!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of organic papaya
-3/4 cup of organic frozen mango
-1/2 organic banana
-1/2 cup of strawberries
-1 cup of organic almond milk
-1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
-crushed ice
-2 tbsp of black chia seeds on top

I love papaya! It has a very mild melon taste! Sometimes a scoop out  seeds in the inside and chop up a green pear and stick it inside to make a edible fruit bowl. So good! I also find that ripe mango goes bad pretty quickly so sometimes I get these organic frozen ones which are only about $2.79 and whole foods.

I have yet to make my own almond milk but I really want to soon.

I am absolutely OBSESSED with my Vitamix! My fiancé bought it for me for my birthday! It is ridiculously expensive but so worth it! Mine lives right on my counter top because I use it every day for ice cream, sauces or smoothies. Can't wait to make some soups with it come fall.

Here's the finished product! Isn't she gorge! I put chia seeds on everything I can. My oatmeal, cereal and smoothies. They seriously are so good for you. Do your research!

This recipe makes a lot of smoothie! I just drank half of this and then sealed the other half in this glass mason jar screwing the lid tight. My fiancé drank the rest the next morning after his gym session. This smoothie is very sweet. It almost taste like a milk shake! It's a real treat!
The Nutrilite protein powder is really the star of this recipe! Check out the nutritional facts compared to Herbalife protein powders!

MAC THE MATTE

Happy Friday Ladies!

If you haven't heard MAC Cosmetics launched an array of lippies at the end of May. All matte everything! I follow this fab instagram called @dupethat. They are the reason I even knew about the launch. Best thing about them is that they are not limited edition! I can barely believe it. I knew that the two star colors were going to be Stone and Whirl, so I went ahead and ordered 4 colors online. It only took about 3 business days for my lipsticks to arrive.

Here are the colors that I purchased:
From Left to Right: D for Danger, Whirl, Stone, Instigator

Here are some photos that I took in my living room. I am infront of my balcony, so the pictures only have natural lighting. No filter no flash. I have on no liner or anything under or on top of the lipsticks. I just slapped it on so you can see how they look raw and uncut.

My complex is considered medium tan with yellow under tones. In MAC foundation I am right in-between NC 42 and NC 45.

I wore Stone majority of the day. Ate breakfast, drank some tea, talked a ton and laughed some more. It barely moved y'all. From 9am to 4pm I only reapplied it once! That is impressive

Ranking Scale
10: Obsessed
1: Unimpressed

Here I have on Stone. I don't have anything like it in my collection. I have a feeling this color is going to be one of the first to sell out!

Ranking: 9

Here I have on Whirl. I feel like whirl was just ok. It reminds me of  1995 from Gerard Cosmetics but not quite as dark.

Ranking: 5

Here I have on D for Danger. I feel like I own about 4 other lippies that look exactly just like this.

Ranking: 3

Here I have on Instigator. I personally LOVE  a dark lip. But Instigator looks a lot like Cyber which I already own. Instigator has a better finish and consistency though.

Ranking: 7
I hope this was helpful! I would def say check out these lipsticks!

Shrimp Rice Paper Rolls & Delicious Dipping Sauce

We had our shrimp rolls in bed with some roasted asparagus. For the asparagus I just washed it, popped it in the oven for 15 minutes with a little olive oil and salt and pepper. Fresh out of the oven I topped with freshly shaven parmesan cheese! Soooo yummy!

I found these at my local asian food grocery store for less than $2.00 a pack! They have tons of different types.

You can use coconut aminos or soy sauce. Soy sauce is just loaded with salt so just be mindful of that.

New recipe alert!
I wanted to share with you this delicious rice paper roll recipe I found on youtube and tweeked a bit.
It is so light and delicious. Did I mention they are really inexpensive to make! I found them at my local asian food store. The sauce really makes the recipe! I made these for my fiancé, mom and sister and they loved them! You can really stuff the rice paper rolls with anything I just choose to keep it quick and simple.

Ingredients for Shrimp Rolls
-Rice paper
-Frozen cooked shrimp
-Fresh basil
-Fresh Mint

Recipe for Shrimp Rolls
1. Unthaw frozen cooked shrimp in a bowl of warm water and remove tail.
2. Add some warm water to a separate medium bowl.
3. Take one rice paper piece and submerge in warm water for about 10 seconds until it becomes delicate and soft.
4. Clean and dry fresh mint and basil leaves
4. Construct the roll! Place delicate rice paper on a plate, take about 4 to 5 shrimp, basil leaf and mint leaf in the center of the roll.
5. Fold in sides of roll and then roll tightly.

Ingredients for Delicious Dipping Sauce
-2/3 cup of maple almond butter
-1/2 cup of coconut aminos or soy sauce
-5 tbsp of lime juice
-4 tbsp of seaseme oil
-2 tbsp of raw honey
-2 tsp of minced garlic

Whisk together ingredients and Enjoy!

April

Welcome. Welcome. Welcome.

Hey y'all!

My name is April McWhirter and I am finally, after much internal debate, starting a blog. It's a lifestyle blog. I know your thinking, oh god not another lifestyle blog, but yes it is another lifestyle blog lol.

A little bit about me...
I am 28 years old. I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. That is where I currently reside. I attended undergrad and pharmacy school at Hampton University. I am as prissy as they come. I love beauty and health and wellness and I have just a bit of OCD. I guess if you had to you could put me under the type A personality categore. I am a retail pharmacist at a major retail chain. Am I crazy about my career? No. But am I grateful for it? Hell yes! Oh, and to make things more interesting I just got engaged to the most amazing chocolate man. I am obsessed with a few blogs out here. I may be bias but I think I can offer a unique touch to the world of blogging. So here I am.

I hope you'll stick around for future post.

Love,
April
